Alphanumeric LCDs

We stock a range of popular sized LCDS which may be purchased either with their standard 4 or 8-bit wide parallel interface or pre-fitted with one of a series of serial interface boards. All our LCDs are of the Supertwist variety and have LED backlighting as standard.
Bare LCDs
Bare LCDs have the standard 4 or 8-bit parallel interface and use the standard Hitachi 44780 or equivalent driver chip sets.
Serial Interface LCDs
Serial interface boards are soldered directly to the back of the LCD and provide a quick and easy serial interface alternative to the standard parallael interface. The serial boards all use chip sets from Scott Edwards Electronics (seetron.com)- the originator of this type of inferace.
BPK Board
Standard RS 232 interface- available for all LCDs with up to 80 on-screen characters.

BOB-4 On-Screen Display
Latest OSD module from Decade Engineering lets
your microcontroller or PC display text and vector graphics* on standard TV
monitors. With huge user-definable character sets*, BOB-4 also supports bitmap
graphics and multiple languages. BOB-4 generates background video on-board, or
automatically genlocks to your video source and superimposes characters over
the image. Printable characters and commands control BOB-4 through a fast
RS-232 style data link, much like a serial printer. BOB-4 links directly to
most microcontroller chips and modules, including the BASIC Stamp. NTSC and PAL
video standards are supported in a single hardware version. Field firmware
upgrades are supported via PC connection. Supplied with suitable 30-pin SIMM
socket.
* These features are not present in early production firmware.

RS232 control Sound Module- QV606M

The first iteration of the QV606m1 MP3-based digital
message module is intended to replace the QV306m1 Winbond ISD ChipCorder based
system. It therefore duplicates the size, pinout, and command structure of the
QV306m1, but is significantly improved in sound quality and capacity. It also
has a built-in option for a parallel interface. Other interface functions will
be available in the future for user download. The QV606m1 has an integrated
1.3W mono amplifier and stereo line output pins. Product Applications: The
QV606m1 embedded memory module is useful in applications where the sound
content is relatively little (up to 60 minutes) and is rarely changed. High
mono or stereo power output and multiple parallel control inputs are features.
The following are among the applications in design for the QV601m2: Sales
kiosks, children's rides, coin changers, car wash annunciators, (entertainment)
robots. Thanks to the ability to play PCM wave files, the module is also used
in automotive test systems. Note- our standard unit is the 32MBit version

ISD ChipCorder Programming System

Professional programming system for the ISD Chipcorder series of
chips. Allows standard .WAV files to be organised and downloaded into
Chipcorder chips from PCs. ZIF sockets for Dip versions of the ISD1000-ISD2500
and ISD33000-44000 series chips. Includes PC connection leads, 73-page manual
(.pdf format) and QV400S1 Windows file organisation software. Additional
sockets/adapters available to suit surface mount chip versions. Requires 9V
regulated poer supply.

The PC interface software manages collections of .wav format sound files and transfers these files to the module. The sound files can be created on your PC using standard Windows utility programs, or can be imported from other sources.
The software has two main functions - it allows the user
to select, organise (i.e.order), and save groups of files as data sets, and it
manages the Windows sound system to record files on the modules with accurate
timing and placement. .

Industrial MP3 player

The QV531 from Quadravox® is a flexible audio output
system capable of producing near-CD quality stereo sound. It is the first of a
family of industrial sound output systems based on MP3 compression techniques.
Future variants will include board-level and rack-mount systems.
Features:
General description:
The QV500 series playback
modules use MP3 (MPEG I, layer 3) perceptual coding to reproduce sound at a
variety of data rates and quality levels. At the standard music rate of
128000bps, the system can produce near-CD quality sound using approximately one
megabyte of data per minute. The systems can also accept lower data rate and
monaural files, so capacity can be extended if an application does not need the
full capability for all sounds. The system has been optimised for industrial
use in the following ways:
The system is housed in a plastic box with metal end
panels and is approximately 5" x 5" x1.5" (12.7 x 12.7 x 3.8cm). It weighs
approximately ½ lb (230g).
IR remote control:
The QV531
is delivered with a hand-held remote control with the following
functions:
To complete the application, the QV531 requires: CompactFlash memory card, serial interface cable, power supply (4Amps at 15VDC if using the internal amplifier) and speakers:
